Entering the Serious Blogging Game

After several stops and starts, I’ve finally made a decision on my blogging software, Typepad.  Unlike the previous free serviice I was using, Typepad permits you to customize many aspects of your blog.

I was greatly influenced in this decision by Small Business Marketing Guru, David Frey, of MarketingBestPractices.com, who said in a testimonial recently: If you’ve visited my site lately…MarketingBestPractices.com…you’ll know that I’ve completely redesigned it from
ground up. As a result of that redesign my website traffic has literally exploded. I went from an average Alexa ranking of 89,000, which  was pretty good, to an ASTOUNDING…….23,000 ranking!  For those of you who don’t know what that means, it means that out of the millions of sites on the net, my MarketingBestPractices.com site is ranked 23,000. Well, there are a number of reasons, but one of the things that contributed to this traffic increase is my new blog. My blog has increased my keyword rankings and has also been instrumental in attracting a lot of new visitors. But to be honest, I didn’t know one single thing about blogs…until a guy named John Jantsch helped me out. He showed me step-by-step how to set up my blog and also showed me several tricks on how to get the search engines to notice it and send me more traffic.

So, I was convinced and had to check out John and discovered his ebook, Blog Lightning. David was absolutely right–in this ebook, John takes you by the hand and leads you step-by-step on how to set up and customize a blog using Typepad.  It was just what I had been seeking!  I highly recommend that you check it out, and if you want to add blogging to your online marketing strategy, buy your own copy!

I’m only about one third of the way through the book, and I’ve still got alot of customization to go, but at least I can figure out how to do what I need to do without pulling my hair out..:)
