My to-do list often runneth over. I am the world’s largest user of sticky notes, I think, and my desk it often littered with them as I remember things I have to do or ideas that I have. Periodically this habit drives me crazy, and I begin to look for other solutions. I have a longer-term solution with an online collaboration service, on which I note my client/project to-do’s. However, I wanted something simple and flexible just for my desktop that would break me of the post-it note habit yet safely store all of the info running around in my head.
Then I found To-Do Desklist. It has a simple, easy-to-use interface that offers only enough options to set up a to-do list without being overwhelming. The To-Do notes are placed directly on your desktop, and you can assign low, medium, or high priorities to your list items. You can set a reminder about each time, as well as assign a hotkey for adding a new item. Sorting by priority or date is also easy, and best of all you get a well-arranged to-do list on your desktop instead of a complex structure.
The only thing that drives me a little nuts is what they call their “To Do Leaves,” which display along one side of my desktop. I’d rather that the To-Do Desklist icon just sit quietly in my systems tray and display a simple to-do list when I needed it. However, the price is right, as it’s free, and I’m learning to live with the leaves.
