Thinking Big About Internet Marketing

I belong to a group run by Michael Port called Think Big Revolution that helps you think bigger about who you are and what you offer in the world. There’s no cost to join, and Michael posts recordings of the calls each week to the Think Big Revolution blog.

In this week’s call, he had just returned from an internet marketing conference and he shared seveal valuable resources:

1.  If your URL or ISP has been blacklisted at AOL, go to https://postmaster.info.aol.com and follow the directions for getting off the blacklist.

2.  If you’ve been blacklisted by other ISP’s, try https://untd.com/postmaster/whitelisted.html

3.  If you’ve been blacklisted by MSN, try https://postmaster.msn.com/snds

Google has a new service that’s in beta mode right now called Google Site Maps.  This service puts a tool on your server to let Google know when you’ve put new content on your website.  It decreases the amount of time between you posting new content and the search engine spiders indexing the content.  You can read all about it here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/protocol.html

Lastly, Michael said that a number of well-known consultants and internet marketers, like Tom Peters, www.tompeters.com were going to a blog as their primary internet presence, as blogs permitted them to update their websites frequently and effortlessly and the search engines loved the sites because new content is constantly being added.  Gives you something to think about, doesn’t it?
