When I go on a visit to a new place, I always like to pick up the free newspapers, as they are rich with ads from small business owners. It’s fun to see the cool ideas that people have turned into businesses. I saw two ads that I thought were brilliant this past weekend when Eric and I visited Austin.
The first I gave kudos to for a VERY attention-getting name. It’s call Brass Ovaries. And, what exactly does Brass Ovaries offer? It’s a pole dancing fitness studio offering pole dancing instruction to male and female students. Not exactly my thing, but I heard the exercise is a great cardio workout.
The second is something that has gone over spectacularly in Austin — food tours. AustinEastFoodTours.com offer a 3-hour walking tour where patrons sample food at 6-8 of Austin’s restaurants in downtown Austin, the Barton Springs area, and South Congress Ave., or SoCo, as the locals call it. I didn’t find the ad in enough time for us to book a tour, but we plan to next time. Eric and I discovered some very cool restaurants on our own, so I’d love to take the tour and discover even more.
New ideas are a great thing for businesses. Where do you get your inspiration to think outside the box?
