Speeding Up Video

If you watch as many online videos as I do, you probably get bored if the introduction goes on and on or if the presenter focuses too long on a topic that’s of no interest to you.  Some videos I’m able to download and play back at a faster speed, but not all are downloadable.  Now I have a secret weapon that helps me speed up video playback.

Enounce’s My Speed lets you change the playback speed of Flash video without any loss of audio quality so that it makes it like speed-reading for video. A slider bar automatically appears whenever a HTML5 (Windows only) or Flash video begins to play in your browser. The slider bar gives you the power to change the playback speed from 1/3 to 5 times normal speed. Speed it up a little to work faster, or speed it up a lot to skip material. I typically have the replay speed set at about 1.75x speed, but I go faster if I’m reviewing something I’ve seen previously.  It automatically adjusts the audio, as well, so there is no distracting “chipmunk” effect.  However, this software will not work on Quicktime videos.

There are versions for both Windows and Mac and once installed it gives you access to a simple slider that you can use to play videos up to 3x quicker (the premium version allows 5x).   You can download a free 7-day trial of My Speed Premier and then purchase that version or just the My Speed Version once the 7-day trial is complete.

Speed up your video today.
