WP-Optimize
When you create posts or pages or WordPress, the software automatically saves all the revisions of those pages and posts. As you might imagine, this can take up a great amount of space on your WordPress installation. If you combine that with all of the spam comments you might have on your site, you may have a very sluggish site.
WP-Optimize is a free plug-in available from WordPress that takes care of those issues, and more. It reports which database tables have overhead and wasted spaces as well as allows you to shrink and get rid of those wasted spaces.
It permits you to:
- remove the WordPress post revisions
- remove the WordPress auto draft posts
- remove all the comments in the spam queue
- remove all the unapproved comments
For example, if you have a post which is approximately 100KB data and you have 5 revisions of that post, the total space wasted is about 500KB. And if you have 100 posts similar to it, you have 50MB database space wasted. Similar to the scenario described above, there might be thousands of spam comments and unapproved comments in your comments table, WP-Optimize can clean and remove those in a single click. Requirements for use include WordPress 2.9++ (at least 3.0 is better), PHP 5.1.xx, and MySql 5.1.xx.
