Need to access your office or home computer when you’re away? Now accessing your files from another computer is quite easy.
LogMeIn.com is a remote access program that lets you remotely access one computer from another from anywhere with a broadband Internet connection. You can try using a dial-up connection, but it’s a painfully slow process. You can also drag and drop files and folders between connected PCs, move files quickly between PCs, and automatically print files from your remote PC to your local printer.
One of my favorite features is the Mini-Meetingfeature, where I can invite a colleague or client to my PC for an online meeting to show her something on my computer. This is really helpful when I’m demonstrating how to use an online service or a piece of software.
You can also share files or photos instantly with others (even those too large for email), synchronize files and folders between PCs in seconds, and access drives on your remote PC as if they were local. A 256-bit SSL encryption ensures that your connections and your files are secure.
LogMeIn offers a 30-day or 120-minute (whichever comes first) free trial. After the trial period, you can opt for one of the paid versions of the service for all of the features listed above. If you don’t opt for a paid version, your subscription reverts to the free version, which is fine if all you need to do is remotely access a computer.
