Q: How do you use pay-per-click advertising without being burned and with maximum results?
E.G. Sebastian
Hi E.G.–
I don't use PPC advertising that much, so I'll refer you to the Google PPC master, Perry Marshall. He publishes an ebook, The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords.
I've tried PPC with mixed results. One of the strategies that I've recently read about is looking at the lesser-used PPC portals, like Yahoo, MSN, and Clickriver (for Amazon.com), which some reports say yield less expensive and better qualified results faster than using the ultra-competitive Google Adwords.
A couple of tips I've picked up:
1. Your landing page for the ad shouldn't be a squeeze page.
2. Your headline on your landing page and the headline on your ad should be very similar, if not the same.
Rather than PPC, I'd rather used education-based marketing, as I do when I employ blogging, article marketing, and social networking strategies. I seem to get much better results this way.
