Benefits vs Features?

Q:  I just visited your web site and saw your lists of article topics.  This list should be benefits-oriented if possible.

Charles Masterson

A:  Hi Charles–

Normally I might agree.  I’m a big advocate of emphasizing the benefits of doing business with someone rather than the features, and making sure those benefits are prominently features on the web site. Recently I’ve noticed the great amount of visitors coming to my site via my articles pages.  However, they were viewing one article and leaving, so I wanted another chance to capture their attention.

So, I decided to create my article list by topic, and since I’ve done so, I’m getting a much greater variety of visitors to my web site who come in via those keywords that are found in the article topics.  Additionally, many of those who are coming to the site via my articles are hanging out longer reading additional articles of interest to them, since the categories make the relevant articles much easier to find.

So, it’s just another strategy that works better for me at the moment.  It could all change tomorrow..:)
