I just read an excellent post on Karyn Greenstreet’s blog entitled, Want to Turn Off Website Visitors? Don’t Include Your Prices. I have to throw in a hearty "amen" to this, as I’ve been saying this for years. Nothing is more annoying to me than to try and determine what someone charges so I can figure out if I can afford their fee. I’m not going to call and ask what their fee is. I’ll just keep looking for another provider until I find what I want at the price I want to pay.
I’ve been told that posting prices will scare people away, but I like to think of it as a screening device — if you can’t pay what I’m asking, then it’s really a waste of time for us to talk.
Karen mentions a survey that delves more into this topic, and an article that she wrote about the topic can be found here.
And, yes, I post my prices on all of my sites..:)
What do you think — is posting prices a help or hindrance to business?
