We’re all tired of hearing about last week’s elections, or I am, at least..:). However, a Ben and Jerry’s owner in Sugarland, TX (outside of Houston) has created a cool marketing ploy to literally "clean up" after the election. Here’s his story, as reported by Ken Hoffman of the Houston Chronicle:
Mike Davis, the owner of Ben & Jerry’s in the Sugar Land Town Square, has a sweet deal.
Anybody who brings a political sign to his store today and Wednesday will get a free ice cream cone.
And it won’t be a small, cheapskate cone, either. You’ll get a regular size, 4-ounce cone — any flavor in the store.
"I’m all for the political process, but I think it’s disgusting the way politicians refuse to pick up their signs after the election," Davis said.
"If politicians won’t obey the law and pick up their signs, it’s worth me giving away ice cream to keep the neighborhood looking good."
How can you think outside the marketing box and piggyback on current events to bring publicity to your business?
