Q: I would like to know what can I do to bring in some money quickly, like $500 for an example, and I am not talking about making million dollars in a short time, cos I don’t believe in hypes and pie in the sky schemes. I have lots of time but need money to sustain my expenses on this online business, so that can work with more peace of mind. Is writing articles and blogging going to help?
Linda
A: Hi Linda–
The road to building an online business takes time and commitment. My answer to your question is probably not what you’re hoping to hear. Writing articles and blogging will help you over the long haul, but won’t bring the cash you desire in the short term. Do you have a list of contacts already collected to whom you’re emailing regularly? If so, you could make a special offer to them, or offer a sale on an existing product that would add cash to your coffers.
If you don’t yet have the beginnings of a contact database, that would be the first step to take — to begin to collect contact info from your website so that you have a base of potentials customers to whom you can market.
If you don’t yet have an email list, the best suggestion that I could offer to earn money a bit sooner would require some outlay of cash – do a bit of research on a very finely defined niche market, create and info product that would help that market, create a one page website to sell that product, and get traffic to you site via pay-per-click advertising or sell the product through Clickbank.com, Froogle, com, or eBay. However, that will probably take a few weeks to begin earning money, and that’s only if you’ve coverered all your bases in your research.
The quickest way to earn cash quickly, in my experience, without having to fork over alot of money, is to sell something you own over eBay.com or through Craigslist.com or offer a personal service, like babysitting, elder care, errand running, etc. through Craigslist. Selling through your local classified ads from area newspapers and radio stations or city/regional websites is also effective.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — building a business takes time. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. Even though you’re not seeking millions in a short time, $500 may as well be a million if you’re starting from scratch without an existing contact database.
Good luck in your fund raising.
