Converting Prospects to Customers

Q:  What is the best and simplest way to convert prospects on your list into clients?

A:  Wow, Robin, what a powerful question!  Entire books are written on this topic..LOL.

Since I don’t have time to write a book <g>, here’s my quick response:

1.  Communicate regularly with your prospects. Regular communication, and sharing a bit about yourself and your life, enables the members of your list to get to know, like and respect you, which are necessary before they’ll buy what you’re selling.  The 2 ways I do this are through my email newsletter and my blog. Since I started publishing my email newsletter on a weekly basis about 3 years ago, I’ve done a much better job in establishing trust with my readership and have increased the probability that they’ll buy from me when I offer a new product, coaching group, or service.  Here’s an article I’ve written with more info about topic,  Top 7 Strategies to Build Trust in Your Online Service Business.

2.  Make an offer.  One of the toughest things that service business owners do (and some just plain forget to do) is to make an offer and ask for the business.  Remind your list that you have something for sale, whether it’s information products, your services, or a special program and ask them to purchase.

3.  Start creating information products right away as a way to showcase your expertise.  This has been a great downfall of mine, as I’ve been so busy helping clients create their info products that I haven’t left much time to create my own.  And, as I’ve discovered, all the info that I carry around in my head doesn’t do anyone any good if they don’t have a way to access it. 

The best way to start demonstrating your expertise through the creation of information products, as it’s pretty unrealistic for someone to go from just meeting you to paying your higher priced service fee without having some type of "get to know you" middle ground.  Here’s a link to a special report I just wrote on that topic:  Leverage Your Expertise Online:  10 Ways Solo Enterpreneurs Can Package Their Expertise into Moneymaking Products
