Branding and Rebranding

Branding is so important in any business, and unfortunately, I’ve changed my brand and directions more times than I care to recount..:).  I’m trying to make some additional decisions now about how to brand myself as an Internet Marketing Expert and Coach for independent service professionals.  Yesterday, in my Mastermind group, my group members came up with some interesting and hysterical suggestions for me to consider..:) that they thought fit in well with my personality. 

I see so much internet marketing hype and hear tales of how so many people are rolling in the dough from their online businesses and internet marketing efforts.  It is possible to make a good, even a great, living with an online business, but I don’t really want you to shove your new beachside estate in my face, or make me endure tales of how you blew $5,000 on your first solo vacation to the Caribbean, all paid for by your booming internet marketing business.  That’s one of the reasons I’ve wanted to stay away from the "internet marketing expert" label, because most of what I see makes me cringe. All I want are good, sound, relatively inexpensive strategies that work and can be repeated over time.  Is that too much to ask?? Many times, it seems, in the internet marketing game, the only ones making money are the ones selling the "how-to" information.

So, due to that mindset, my mastermind group suggested things along the lines of "cut through the B.S. marketing", and I’ll let you imagine the logo they suggested for that..LOL.

Usually the first thing that pops into someone’s mind when they hear "internet marketing" relates to search engine optimization, an industry in which the rules change moment-to-moment and requires hiring an expert at a hefty retainer to keep you at the top of the game.  My expertise comes more from a series of strategies that I employ and encourage my clients to employ to become well-known in their industry that won’t break the bank.
