The Joy of Sleep

Since my late 30′s, and most especially since the hurricane last fall, sleep is no longer something that comes easily to me.  I used to be able to fall asleep anywhere on anything and sleep through any event.  That’s not the case any longer.  It’s tough for me to fall asleep, stay asleep, or sleep more than a few hours at a time.

This morning I’m dancing in the streets, however.  I slept the sleep of the dead last night and feel terrific!  Getting an adequate amount of sleep is so unappreciated, except if you’re the one who’s not sleeping..:).  It was a miraculously deep sleep, not interrupted by weird dreams, train whistles, noisy cars or delivery trucks, or Eric coming or going at 5 AM (it’s rough living with a shift worker <g>).  I fell asleep and woke up at 7 AM completely unaware that 7.5 hours or so had passed.  I’m usualy wake up 4-5 times every night, but I didn’t stir a bit last night!  Of course, I guess it does help that I slept very poorly on Monday night –  I guess I was extra-tired.

And, the best part is that I’m alert and my entire body feels rejuvenated.  Now, if I could just figure out how to make that happen every night..:)
