I'm quite happy to welcome spring back to SE Texas. The leaves have
returned to the trees, the azaleas and dogwood are in full bloom, and
the new plants (for which I don't remember the name) we recently added
to our front yard landscape are beginning to flower.
And, of course, the emergence of spring brings on thoughts of spring
cleaning. Eric and I have been discussing a major clean-out of our
garage. When I moved in with him several years ago, we were two people
who each had contents for a 1400 sq. foot home. Since Eric's home was
furnished, almost all of my stuff ended up in the garage. I've found
friends to whom I've given my furniture and appliances after their
homes were destroyed by fire or hurricanes, but a very large number of
boxes still remain. Those, combined with the stuff he moved out of the
house to make room for me, means that we've been unable to park in our
garage since 2006.
Since I haven't seen or used those belongings for 4 years, I guess
it's time to get rid of them. My original intention was to unpack one
box per week, and that worked well for perhaps two weeks before that
grand plan fell by the wayside.
I guess it's time to get cracking on the garage again before the
fabled garbage dumpster mysteriously appears in our driveway one day
and little garage cleaning elves (Eric and his friends) begin to
ransack my boxes…:)
