This week's newsletter is going to be short and sweet, as I'm just not up to writing new content this time around. I normally try and be upbeat in this column, but life circumstances are making it quite difficult..:). My vibrant, joyful, always upbeat cousin, Lisa Wilson, died on Sunday from complications due to ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Coming 4 weeks almost to the day after my mom passed away has brought forth the pain of her loss all over again. Lisa's funeral and burial will be this week at the same funeral home and cemetery as my mom's, which just intensifies the loss. It's been a tough couple of days for me.
What I've discovered in the last month is the true power of family. I've got quite an extended family on my mom's side, as many of you know (she was one of 10 kids), and I grew up living next door to many of them on what we dubbed "Wilson Hill." (Eric refers to it as "The Compound" and does a pretty funny routine about my family loosely based on the move, "Deliverance," but that's another story for another time..:). The strength and support of my extended family is never more obvious than in times like these, and I'm grateful to have them all in my life.
